Healthcare presents its choices as evidence-based — this is the best option, the data backs it. But this clip asks the question underneath: what were we asking when we gathered that evidence? Rarely was it "what helps a patient feel safe walking into this room?" Safety and a calm nervous system are prerequisites to healing — we can't heal if we don't feel safe — yet no one designing a hospital or clinic seems to be asking it. Hard to recall an exam room that ever felt like a healing space.
